ABOUT ME

My Story...

A native of Post, Texas, I became interested in health and nutrition at an early age.

But it wasn’t always that way…

It took a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from SMU (Southern Methodist University) and a short-lived career as a computer network consultant that drove me to pivoting. By January of 1998, I started classes in a nationally accredited Top 10 nutrition graduate school program at TWU (Texas Woman’s University).

While taking classes at TWU, I worked full time as a personal fitness trainer and nutrition counselor, and launched my current private practice, eatrightfitness®, specializing in weight loss, personal training, and sports performance nutrition. In December 2004, I graduated summa cum laude and obtained my Ph.D. in Nutrition.

For five years, beginning in 2006, I found my passion for teaching and served as an adjunct faculty at Dallas College, teaching undergraduate nutrition courses at both their Richland and Eastfield Campuses.

Over the course of my career, I’ve hit many milestones that I take great pride in. I’ve been published in the prestigious Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (jissn.com/content/3/2/28), recognized by D Magazine as one of Dallas’ best personal fitness trainers two years in a row, was a four-time recipient of the Doris McCarter Brownell Endowed Scholarship for excellence in the field of nutrition, selected as a Thumbtack Top-10 Health Professional in the Houston-area three years in a row, and most recently received the Global Health & Pharma Fitness and Nutrition Award for 2019.

My true passion comes from passing on the knowledge I have amassed, whether it’s teaching undergraduate nutrition courses, developing personal trainer nutrition certification programs, or working one-on-one with private clients. I’ve spent over 20 years on the mission to impact the lives of others in a positive, long lasting way… and I’m certainly not stopping any time soon!

I’m currently a new resident to Oklahoma City, where I am actively growing my practice. Away from work, my free time is spent with my beautiful wife and my twin soccer phenom sons.
