Concurrent to his nutrition practice, Dr. Adams is the Nutrition Director at deNoVo Medical Group (denovomg.com). He oversees the design and implementation of nutrition programs and seminars for patients during and after medically-supervised weight loss programs. He holds virtual and telephone classes to educate patients on how to achieve and maintain their weight-loss goals. Additionally, Dr. Adams serves on the Nutrition Advisory Board for Bridalicious by The Knot, a comprehensive online resource and community of brides looking to become fit, healthy, and strong. Dr. Adams is also the Nutritional Content Expert for Share The Wisdom (sharethewisdom.org), an online resource dedicated to inspire and educate people to protect their skin from daily UV exposure.
A native of Post, Texas, Dr. Adams became interested in health and nutrition at an early age. In December of 2004 he completed his life-long goal of obtaining a Ph.D. in Nutrition.
Dr. Adams graduated cum laude from Dallas’ Southern Methodist University in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. While he was a student at SMU, Dr. Adams worked in the telecommunications industry, and after graduation, was hired by Andersen Consulting as a computer network consultant. Two and a half years later, he made a career change, followed his passion for health and enrolled at Texas Woman’s University, in Denton, Texas, to pursue his doctorate in nutrition.

By January of 1998, Dr. Adams had taken his first step in his new career and started classes in a nationally accredited Top 10 nutrition graduate school program at TWU. By February, he obtained his instructor’s certification in personal fitness training, and is currently certified by the American Council on Exercise (acefitness.org). Dr. Adams is also a Certified Sports Nutritionist by the International Society of Sports Nutrition (sportsnutritionsociety.org), as well as a member of the IDEA Health and Fitness Association (ideafit.com) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (eatright.org), where he is an active member of several dietetic practice groups: Nutrition Entrepreneurs (nedpg.org), Sports, Cardiovascular & Wellness Nutritionists (scandpg.org), and Weight Management (wmdpg.org).
While taking classes at TWU, Dr. Adams worked full time as a personal fitness trainer and nutrition counselor, and launched his current private practice, eatrightfitness®, specializing in weight loss, wellness and sports performance nutrition. He served as president of the Nutrition and Food Science Graduate Club for two years at TWU and in December 2004 he graduated summa cum laude and obtained his Ph.D. in Nutrition. His doctoral research focused on conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and its effects on visceral body fat in overweight, resistance-trained men – his research and findings were published in the peer-reviewed Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (jissn.com/content/3/2/28). Dr. Adams was a four-time recipient of the Doris McCarter Brownell Endowed Scholarship from Texas Woman’s University for excellence in the field of nutrition, and was recognized by D Magazine as one of Dallas’ best personal fitness trainers two years in a row.
While working with clientele on their fitness and health goals as a personal trainer, Dr. Adams was the resident Nutritionist at Body Tech Personal Training (bodytechpt.com) in Dallas, Texas. He continues to assist their clientele with nutritional needs for weight-loss, disease management and sports performance via distance consultations over the phone and internet.
Dr. Adams really discovered his passion for teaching others while serving as an Adjunct Faculty for over four years within the Dallas County Community College District. Here he taught undergraduate nutrition courses to pre-med, nursing, and other health-related majors, while mentoring many students looking to make a career in the nutrition and fitness professions. He also took an active role in sponsoring students in their Personal Trainer Certification program.
